This is from one of the last sessions recorded for John Peel.
It was arranged in 2004 and originally meant to be for Welsh rapper MC Sleifar, aka Steffan Cravos. But by the time it was recorded in 2005, John Peel had died.
So instead, it became a bit of a tribute to Peel and a celebration of Welsh hip hop with Cravos inviting lots of different Welsh rappers to join him. It includes John Griffiths from Llwybr Llaethog who recorded the first Welsh rap in 1986. The others include Mr Phormula, MC Chef, Aron, Cofi Bach and Tew Shady.
There’s a John Peel sample at the end of MOMYFGNOW about how Welsh music like this transcends language. He was right.
